Rest in Power George

Like many people a few weeks back in May, I couldn’t help but express my disgust at the four officers in Minneapolis. While it isn’t shocking to say the least that another African American has died in the past decade, this was pretty much the final nail in the coffin for me as with many other people in the nation. With that being said I’m now putting my full support into the Black Lives Matter movement. Not because of George Floyd’s death alone, there are many other African Americans such as Trayvon Martin, Breonna Taylor, and many others who have faced excessive force over petty crimes.

I’m not black, however, it doesn’t take a genius to see that the current system of politics is broken and that white people get a slap on the wrist compared to the minorities of this country. With that being said, if any of you are disturbed by the recent events, now would be a good time to listen to your African American neighbors, get their perspective, educate yourselves and if you are able to, sign a petition, protest, and vote. A better tomorrow starts with all of us.
