So, sometime ago while I’ve been going to school at Pratt, I was given the assignment to make an animated documentary. So, having a wide variety of people I ended up knowing over the years I had a buddy of mine, Mike, who offered to help me out by telling me a story about how he managed to find this room hidden in the gym of his middle school while I recorded a phone call with him.
Believe it or not I actually found myself loving this project a lot more than I should have even though I feel like I could have done quite a bit more with it. In fact, I think that it came out very well since it adds a more human element when you are actually coming up with ideas in your drawings to literally record someone telling a story then making the animation as you listen to what they have to say.
As I kept on making this over the course of the few weeks I even realized that, as just being a human being in general is that you value your friends if they have known you for the past few years. Whether or not, it’s through some tough times that you’re both going through or just causing some crazy shenanigans that end up making you wonder whether or not you have some sort of twisted sense of morality when you even joke about it you still appreciate the stories they have to tell you. And I think that was one of the driving factors that led me to make this video.
Perhaps one day I’ll go back to this and make an extended version that could last roughly four minutes. But that will probably be a 10th anniversary or a long ways down the line. Other than that enjoy the video!
